Mar 11: In a world where digital connections are getting stronger by the minute, real-life connections are quietly fading and meaningful personal conversations are often taking a backseat, especially among couples. A recent study done in Chennai by Sunfeast revealed that 53% of respondents admitted to spending more time on their phones than with their partners — a statistic that reflects a growing emotional gap in modern relationships. Addressing this growing reality, Sunfeast Marie Light has launched its new campaign — #MarieLightMode — encouraging couples to put their phones aside and rediscover meaningful light moments over Marie Light & tea.

Bringing this insight alive in a heartfelt campaign film featuring popular actress Jyothika alongside Senthil, portraying a modern couple who realise that while their digital connections are thriving, their own bond is slowly weakening. A conscious decision to switch off their phones transforms their everyday tea time into a light moment of genuine laughter and conversation. Through this simple yet powerful gesture, the film reinforces the brand’s belief that sometimes, all it takes are light moments — a cup of tea, a light biscuit, and an honest conversation — to make relationships stronger.
Commenting on the campaign, Mr. Suraj Kathuria, VP and Head of Marketing – Biscuits, Foods Division ITC Ltd, said,
“At Sunfeast Marie Light, we believe that it’s the small, light moments shared every day that build strong relationships. With #MarieLightMode, we want to encourage couples to take mindful break from screens and rediscover the joy of spending quality time together – because sometimes the strongest connections are built in these light moments.”
As part of the initiative, consumers can scan the QR code on the Sunfeast Marie Light packs to participate in an engaging couple’s quiz that tests how well partners know each other. Participants also stand a chance to win an exciting couple’s trip to Switzerland — celebrating shared experiences and more of these light moments.
Actress Jyothika added, “After marriage, it’s often the daily light moments that keep a relationship strong. In Tamil homes, sharing tea is one such moment. Marie Light Mode gently reminds us to pause, put our phones away, and spend that time talking to each other. This thought really resonated with me.”
The film is currently live across television and digital platforms in Tamil Nadu, supported by in-store activations and social media engagement under the hashtag #MarieLightMode.
