Palakkad, Feb 18: Kerala Fibre Optic Network (KFON) has achieved a major milestone in Palakkad, crossing the 10,000-connection. The total number of connections in the district has now reached 13,596, underscoring steady progress in strengthening digital connectivity.
Marking steady progress in digital expansion, KFON has significantly strengthened its presence across the district by extending services to households, government offices and commercial establishments. Among the total connections completed, 10,534 are household connections, highlighting strong adoption at the residential level. High-speed internet connectivity has also been extended to 1,173 Below Poverty Line (BPL) families and more than 2,315 government institutions at affordable rates, further promoting digital inclusion across the district.
As part of the “Connecting the Unconnected” initiative, internet connectivity has been extended to nearly 535 families in Attappady, advancing digital inclusion in tribal and remote communities. KFON services have also reached hilly and rural areas such as Malampuzha, Kava, Anakkal and Dhoni, further expanding the network’s footprint across the district.
Commercial connectivity is being strengthened through an extensive network of 388 Local Network Operators across the district, working in close partnership with KFON to enhance last-mile delivery and ensure seamless service expansion.
