Techno India Group’s ‘The Master 100’ Musical Tribute Marks Salil Chowdhury’s 100th Anniversary
Kolkata, 20th November, 2024: Techno India Group hosted a grand musical tribute to legendary composer Salil Chowdhury, The Master@100, today, at the Science City Auditorium. The concert, which marked the centenary of the musical genius, brought together an exceptional array of talent, under the orchestration of Sourendro-Soumyajit featuring celebrated artists like Iman Chakraborty, Ujjaini Mukherjee, Somlata Acharyya Chowdhury, Lagnajita Chakraborty, Dohar, Parambrata Chatterjee, Durnibar Saha, and Saikat Biswas amongst others. The concert also featured performances by students from the Techno India Group’s various schools, colleges and university, all coming together to pay tribute to the maestro’s timeless music.
The evening weaved together classical and contemporary renditions of his iconic compositions, which have shaped the cultural landscape of Bengal and beyond. The concert was anchored by Ms Ushoshi Sengupta. As a towering figure in the world of music, Salil Chowdhury’s melodies continue to resonate across generations, and the concert showcased the power and beauty of his works, reimagined for a modern audience.

A special highlight of the evening was the Biswopita song, performed by a talented ensemble of 100 students from both S & S Academy and the Techno India Group. This extraordinary collaboration between the institutions created a truly unforgettable experience, showcasing the richness of music from diverse cultures and genres. The performance was a heartfelt tribute to Chowdhury’s ability to bring people together through the universal language of music.
The performances, led by Sourendro-Soumyajit, was nothing sort of mesmerizing. The duo’s expertise in blending classical Indian and Western music styles elevated the evening to new heights, with a harmonious fusion of melody and emotion. The audience was treated to a wide array of songs like Aj Noye Gungun sung by Somlata Acharyya Chowdhury, Runner sung by Durnibar Saha, Aaja re sung by Ujjaini Mukherjee, Recitation by Parambrata Chatterjee, Aey Roko Prithibir Garita Thamayo sung by Saikat Biswas, Na Jane Kyun sung by Lagnajita Chakraborty, O Sajna sung by Soumyojit Das, Pathe Ebar namo Shathi sung by Iman Chakraborty and the last song was Dhitang Dhitang Bole sung by Dohar where all the artists joined them at the stage. These performances captured the essence of Chowdhury’s musical genius, from romantic ballads to socially impactful anthems, all brought to life with impeccable artistry.
