Whirlpool GTEC celebrates its first anniversary of its new state-of-the-art facility in Pune, India
Bengaluru, March 2023: Whirlpool Corporation, a leading global kitchen and laundry company, celebrated the first anniversary of its Global Technology & Engineering Center (GTEC) new office in Pune, India. GTEC is Whirlpool Corp.’s only Integrated tech Center outside the U.S. with a dedicated team of 850+ engineers working on different technology and solutions under one roof.
Whirlpool Corp.’s new GTEC office in Pune provides an inspiring work environment that fosters agility and collaboration as part of the company’s “Winning Workplace” guidelines. GTEC includes a cafe, personal and flex workspaces, recreation and collaboration areas, focus seats and seating pods, a lab collaboration area, a wet lab, a Competitive Analysis workspace, an innovation garage, Virtual Reality lab, among other state-of-the-art infrastructure.
A rich culture of innovation is evident from a distinguished contribution to intellectual property; a significant number of Whirlpool Corp. IPs was generated by GTEC in 2022. The center has consistently been a leading contributor to the company’s Global Innovation Challenges and Hackathons. The facility’s lab infrastructure has also contributed heavily to delivering Whirlpool Corp.’s strategic imperatives. The engineers at GTEC have also leveraged the site to the maximum extent, resulting in multiple co-location benefits for the team’s leading IoT development, AI/ML, design validation projects, and simulated manufacturing.
As a model engineering center for Whirlpool Corp.’s global IT function, the team has delivered mobile apps with a consumer rating of 4.5 out of 5, matured cloud development capability, and established a 24/7 cloud operations team. GTEC has also created foundational steps as the company’s DevOps COE.
