Entrepreneurship in Solid Waste Management

New Delhi, December 21, 2021:Indian Pollution Control Association (IPCA) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with TERI School of Advanced Studies (TERI SAS) to collaborate on reaching to young & enthusiastic minds through a certificate course to promote Entrepreneurship in the realm of Waste Management. The certificate course will focus on training the youth to explore the scope of entrepreneurship in managing waste effectively and enhancing its recycling and recovery. This joint initiative aims to develop efficient future social entrepreneurs.

IPCA, a registered NGO, has been working in the field of solid waste management for past two decades, and has been involved in training and capacity building of different stakeholders. It is the member of expert & core committee constituted by CPCB, Government of NCT of Delhi & Government of Jammu & Kashmir for plastic waste management.

The TERI SAS, a higher education institute, which dedicates itself to sustainable development, has been developing set of learning programmes on the issues of energy, environment and sustainability for over two decades.

“It is an absolute honour for us to join hands with TERI School of Advanced Studies to empower youth in exploring entrepreneurial avenues in the domain of solid waste management. We believe that the course will bring discussions on solid waste to the forefront. It will enable young minds to innovatively design solutions that will change the way solid waste is perceived and dealt with in our society.” says Ashish Jain, Director, IPCA.

“We believe that the MoU between TERI School of Advanced Studies and Indian Pollution Control Association will enhance young people’s interest in being entrepreneurs in the field of solid waste management. Our training will not only motivate youth to be entrepreneurs, but will also facilitate change by providing sustainable solutions to a problem which is one of biggest issues in majority of the big cities in India,” said Prof. Arun Kansal, Dean (Academic), TERI School of Advanced Studies, New Delhi.

This certificate course is a first-of-its-kind programme in the field of waste management where conceptual understanding will be blended with field exposure.
