Pune, Mar 10: Entrepreneur and ultra distance cyclist Kanthi Dutt will embark on his 750 km cycling expedition from Hyderabad to Mumbai starting 7 March, undertaken in association with the Sports Authority of India. Spanning seven days, the endurance journey is designed to promote disciplined and community driven fitness across various cities.
As part of the expedition, Pune will serve as a key recovery halt on 12 March upon crossing the 500 km cycling milestone.
Highlighting the broader objective of the initiative, Mayank Srivastava, Deputy Director General, Sports Authority of India, said,
“Through this 750 kilometre cycling expedition, we aim to create meaningful on ground engagement across Telangana, Karnataka and Maharashtra. The outreach will extend beyond the ride itself, with structured interactions, meet and greet sessions and fitness conversations at universities and colleges along the route. As a Fit India Ambassador, Kanthi Dutt has consistently demonstrated commitment to community driven wellness, and this initiative reflects the spirit of the Fit India Movement by encouraging citizens, especially young people, to integrate cycling and active living into their everyday routines.”
During his scheduled recovery window in Pune, Kanthi will host a special community fitness interaction at Phoenix Marketcity Pune. The engagement will bring together runners, cyclists, young creators and wellness enthusiasts for an evening that blends movement with meaningful dialogue around sustainable health practices.
Speaking on this activity, Mr. Anshuman Bharadwaj, Senior Centre Director, Phoenix Malls Pune said,
“Phoenix Marketcity Pune is pleased to host Kanthi Dutt and his community interaction as part of the 500 km milestone in his Hyderabad to Mumbai cycling expedition. We have always believed that a mall today must also be a community space, where people come together for experiences that add value. This session brings Pune’s fitness community under one roof and we are glad to support an initiative that encourages an active lifestyle across age groups.”
The gathering will open with a community Zumba and fitness session led by the team from Multifit Pune, the official fitness partner for the Pune interaction. This will be followed by Kanthi addressing the audience on endurance, resilience and the science of recovery in long distance sport. Actor Ayaan Lall will join the interaction, speaking about youth engagement in fitness and the importance of consistency in everyday routines. The session will also feature a candid conversation between Ayaan and Kanthi, along with a focused discussion between Kanthi and nutritionist Amita Gadre highlighting the role of nutrition and structured recovery in performance and overall wellbeing. An open audience interaction and dedicated media engagement window will conclude the evening. The evening will be hosted by celebrity host Nayandeep Rakshit.
The Pune recovery halt underscores the larger vision of the expedition, encouraging communities to view fitness not as a short term challenge, but as a sustained lifestyle commitment. The fitness movement is supported by two leading publicity trading firms, MIC Electronics Ltd and Sai Silks Kalamandir Ltd, under their CSR initiatives.
Media representatives are invited to attend and cover the Pune interaction on 12 March at Phoenix Marketcity Pune starting 5 PM onwards at Liberty Square.
