TV9 Bangla ‘Uttorer Khonje’ 2023
SILIGURI, January 26: The persistent demand of carving out a separate state with the districts of North Bengal has come to occupy center stage in West Bengal politics. There is near unanimity in the opinion that North Bengal has lagged behind the state in development parameters. TV9 Bangla is gathering the best minds in North Bengal to deliberate on this central question and what can be the way forward on this thorny issue. To be sure, these questions are central to the future of not only this region but also for the entire state.
A galaxy of Union ministers, ministers in the state cabinet, ruling party leaders, opposition MPs and veteran politicians will be joining the conclave, which will take place on January 28, at Hotel Royal Sarovar, Siliguri 5 pm onwards.
TV9 Bangla, the preferred medium for the state’s discerning audience, brings to you a conclave to trigger intelligent discourse and vibrant churning of thought that defines the DNA of the news channel.
This event seeks to identify and the issues largely unanswered by the political parties, state authorities, and local bodies over the years. With the central theme “Kyamon Acho Uttar Bongo (How are you doing, North Bengal?)” the deliberation would explore whether statehood would, by any means, help in the overall development of the region, a possible roadmap for future development, economic and business prospects, and relevant questions. The event would be hosted by Amritanshu Bhattacharya, managing editor, of TV9 Bangla, and Anirban Choudhury, consulting editor, TV9 Bangla. Shankar Ghosh, MLA, Siliguri from BJP; Udayan Guha, minister of the department of North Bengal Development and TMC leader; Ashok Bhattacharya, former minister and CPI(M) leader and educationist Biplab Sengupta will enrich the proceedings with their deep and wide experience of the politics, people and development process of the region.
