APM Terminals Pipavav Engages Rural Adolescents Through Sports and Value- Based Development Initiatives

Pipavav, Gujara Jan 13: As part of its continued commitment to community development and empowering the adolescents, APM Terminals Pipavav organised the Swami Vivekanand Inter-Village Sports Day and conducted the Parvarish Camp, engaging students from neighbouring villages through initiatives focused on physical fitness, teamwork, leadership, and holistic growth.
The Swami Vivekanand Inter-Village Sports Day, organised under the company’s Gyan Jyot Project, brought together over 500 students from Grades IV to VIII representing nine schools from villages including Rampara, Bherai, Shiyal Bet, Padar, Thavi, Divalo, Devpara, Kadiyali, and Pipavav Dham. The event aimed to promote fitness, inter-school collaboration, and overall well-being among rural adolescents.
Students participated enthusiastically in a range of sporting activities such as Kabaddi, Kho-Kho, long jump, high jump, 100-metre and 200-metre races, fostering a spirit of healthy competition, discipline, and sportsmanship. The event provided a platform for young participants to come together, build camaraderie, and explore sports as a potential avenue for personal development.
Complementing the focus on physical fitness, APM Terminals Pipavav also organised the Parvarish Camp for Class VIII students from villages including Rampara, Bherai, Thavi, Padar, and Divalo. Held at Lok Bharati Rural University, Sanosara, the camp saw the participation of 207 students across three batches.
The camp was designed to nurture leadership skills, team building, and entrepreneurial thinking among students through structured activities such as mind games, life skills sessions, theatre-based learning, situational analysis, and group exercises. The immersive environment encouraged self-awareness, collaboration, and confidence-building beyond the classroom.
Through initiatives like these, APM Terminals Pipavav continues to support the all-round development of youth in communities surrounding the port. The company’s CSR efforts span multiple areas including mobile science and mathematics labs, mobile health units, a 24×7 advanced life support ambulance, mobile veterinary clinics, a boat ambulance, skill and entrepreneurship development programmes, and community initiatives such as Uddan, Harit, and Pravah.
These programmes reflect APM Terminals Pipavav’s sustained focus on creating meaningful opportunities for education, health, and personal growth, contributing to the long-term well-being of the region’s young population.
