Global Forgiveness Day: “Forgive yourself and others.”
err is human, to forgive is divine”. Forgiveness is an act of letting go of the feeling of anger and hatred and replacing it with peace. Every year, July 7th is celebrated as Global Forgiveness Day, reminding us of the importance of forgiveness, valuing the forgiveness that others have offered us in the past, and focusing on forgiving those we may need to forgive, including ourselves. &TV artists Gracy Singh (Santoshi Maa, Santoshi Maa SunayeVratKathayein), RohitashvGour (Manmohan Tiwari, BhabijiGhar Par Hai), Kamna Pathak (Rajesh, Happu Ki Ultan Paltan) and Aur Bhai Kya ChalRahaHai?’s Pawan Singh (Zafar Ali Mirza) and Akansha Sharma (Sakina Mirza) talk about the art and importance of forgiveness in one’s life.
Gracy Singh, Santoshi Maa from &TV’s Santoshi Maa SunayeVratKathayein shares, “Forgiveness is an important virtue that helps us in all walks of life. Being angry at someone affects us more than it does the other person. Unsolved anger affects mental wellness as it often leads to unmanaged stress and problems in health issues. Whereas mercy not only mends relations but also gives you internal peace. On this Global Forgiveness Day, take a long breath and exhale all the negativity while stepping towards the joy of forgiving.” RohitashvGour, Manmohan Tiwari from &TV’s BhabijiGhar Par Hai, shares, “During these unprecedented times, the only way where one can find peace is by living in the moment and liberating ourselves from anger and practice forgiveness as a way of life. Forgiveness works like magic. The person who receives it feels a burden been lifted, and the person who forgives finds peace. Another important aspect islearning to forgive yourself, as it is an important step towards self-love. We must accept that nobody is perfect, and mistakes only make you the better version of yourself. Make compassion a part of your life and see your life take a positive route.”
Kamna Pathak, Dabang Rajesh from &TV’s Happu Ki Ultan Paltan, says, “Global Forgiveness Day is a reminder for all of us to let go of anger and hatred that we have been holding onto for a long time and get ready to free ourselves from it. There have been many instances where we get angry at a friend at school, and a mistake made years ago still holds an unnecessary space in our minds. We should let go of that feelingand make space for better things in life. So, on this special day, let us take a minute to think about anyone we may be angry with, even if it is an old friend or a foe. These small steps will help us in our wellness journey too.” Pawan Singh, Zafar Ali Mirza from &TV’s Aur Bhai Kya ChalRahaHai?, says, “Forgiveness is a process that takes time. Always remember that pardoning the other person does not mean that you are giving them a chance to do it again, but it expresses that you accept that one can rectify certain mistakes. It is a wonderful feeling that makes you a better person and boosts your self-confidence. This Global Forgiveness Day, let us all break the walls of anger, hatred and embrace each other to create a peaceful environment.” Akansha Sharma, Sakina Mirza from &TV’s Aur Bhai Kya ChalRahaHai?, shares, “As said by Mahatma Gandhi – “The weak can never forgive. Forgiveness is the attribute of the strong.” There is no gain in holding up grudges as it only disturbs you and your mental peace. But to let go of these feelings require immense willpower and strength. We all make mistakes irrespective of our age. All we need to do is accept, forgive, and move on. On Global Forgiveness Day, I urge everyone to let go of feelings of hatred and anger, forgive and forget, and you will see a magical change. It has helped me, and it would also help you too. Spread the joy of forgiveness and lead a peaceful life.”
