
Sept 12: Dr. Sudhir Chandra Sur Institute of Technology and Sports Complex (SurTech), a JIS Group Educational Initiative, hosted a Young Innovators STEM Lab (YISL) Workshop on Augmented Reality (AR) and Virtual Reality (VR), with support from the Public Diplomacy Section of the United States Department of State in New Delhi. The initiative aimed to foster innovation, creativity and experiential STEM learning among students by providing them an opportunity to explore emerging technologies through hands-on engagement.
The programme was attended by Dr. Chaitali Bhattacharya, Interim Executive Director & Chief Science Officer, Indo-U.S. Science and Technology Forum (IUSSTF); Smt. Priya Thomas, Senior Program Officer, IUSSTF; Shri. Dharam Raj Panwar, Co-Founder, STEAM Varsity; Prof. (Dr.) Sardindu Panda, Principal, SurTech, JIS Group along with STEAM Varsity facilitators.
The workshop provided students with hands-on exposure to AR/VR development, WebXR, 3D environments, immersive technologies and Meta Quest headsets. Students also participated in Design Thinking, prototyping and team-based problem-solving activities, giving them an opportunity to explore emerging technologies through practical learning.
The programme was conducted in association with JIS Drone Academy (RPTO), further strengthening the institution’s focus on emerging technologies and practical, industry-oriented learning. The workshop also reflects JIS Group and SurTech’s focus on strengthening STEM education, innovation and experiential learning, while equipping students with future-ready skills.
